An unusual plot of land, measuring only 640 m² on a steep slope, presented the architects with a unique challenge. The aim was to create a modern single-family home that not only blends harmoniously into the topography but also conveys a sense of lightness through its floating appearance. The living space is cleverly distributed across several levels, thus making maximum use of the limited terrain – without creating the impression of a compact "tower".
Bright rooms with a view
Inside the house, you'll find a comforting sense of openness and connection to nature. Generous glazing brings the surrounding green landscape indoors, enhancing the experience of living close to nature – despite the proximity to the city. A wide, overhanging roof ensures a pleasant indoor climate year-round: in summer it protects against overheating, and in winter it lets in warming sunlight.
The floor as a connecting element
Special attention was paid to the choice of flooring. With the large windows, a parquet floor had to be selected that was as resistant to light as possible. The choice fell on a tilo parquet floor, whose high-quality lacquer finish has the appearance of oiling – for a natural, warm look combined with high durability. The floor impresses with its easy-care properties and its harmonious effect in the open-plan living concept.
Regional products of the highest quality
Resource conservation also played a key role in the choice of materials. The decision to use tilo was based on the desire to utilize regional products of the highest quality. The collaboration through partner company FOX Holz was seamless and entirely satisfactory – further proof that well-conceived architecture and high-quality materials can go hand in hand.
