Most people today spend a great part of their lives in dwellings and other interiors, unlike people of only two or three generations ago. The question of potential risks to health from our immediate living area is thus becoming ever more important.

Healthy living can do a great deal to promote our psychic and physical health and strength. Many influences that are damaging to our strength and vitality that simply have to be accepted in the contemporary working world, can be compensated in our private living areas.

Insufficient attention was paid in the past to a health criteria assessment of building materials as the problems that have arisen with wood protection, asbestos and formaldehyde materials have unfortunately demonstrated. As a result of the spread of allergies and other diseases the level of sensibility to building-biological living has grown enormously.

Tested and recommended by the
Institut for Building Biology in Rosenheim, Germany (IBR)

tilo parquet floors have been awarded the test seal “recommended by the IBR“ because they are set apart by their environmental friendliness and using them results in no risks to health whatsoever.

The test seal is proof that both the aspects of environmental protection and of sound living and building biological criteria are given full account in the manufacture and the use of these products. It is an indicator for those products offering the highest level of protection against anything that is detrimental or damaging to the health.

The seal is valid for two years in each case. A new test must be applied for before the expiry of the product for which it was issued if use of the seal is to be continued.

The investigations needed for this testing were made in independent institutes and laboratories. The factors examined included radioactivity, microbiological effects, formaldehyde, biocides, halogenised pesticides, heavy metals, the release of fine dust, electrostatic behaviour, electrical and magnetic fields, water vapour penetration and reaction to heat.
