Gustav Schrattenecker
& Franz Schrattenecker

Actually he wanted to become a car mechanic. But in 1950 Gustav Schrattenecker discovered the fascination of wood and founded with only one apprentice a joinery. In a workshop of 7,5 m x 12 m, the 31-year old started his business with only a planing machine, a dressing machine and a bandsaw.

Trademark tilo:
1960
Gustav Schrattenecker starts very successfully to produce mouldings for joiners. 1969 he first exhibits veneered ceilings with the new company name and trademark “tilo” at a local trade fair. An innovation, which turns out to be a fast seller. Due to the growing demand the company developed to a big local employer. While in 1970 27 people are employed, the number raises in 1980 to 160 employees.

Alternation of Generations:
1989
Franz Schrattenecker takes over the business management. According to his motto: " Challenge proven operations and permanently head for innovative solutions ", he continues this successfull path and leads tilo to an international company.

Spezialisation:
1992 tilo specialices in the production of prefabricated floorings made of natural raw materials like wood, cork and linoleum. Quality products which are soled in more than 20 countries with an export ratio of 50 %.

Innovations:
Numerous awards and product news confirm the successful line. Latest example: "NATwood" (natural durified wood), a patent, to increase durability of wood by treating it with natural substances.

FOX HOLZ:
1995 the subsidiary FOX HOLZ is founded in Neuhofen. FOX HOLZ, a specialty store for floorings, and ceilings, is also an expert for room acoustics (Austrian market leader) and false floors (managing director: Mag. Josef Werner).

tilo in the Czech Republic:
1997
a tilo sales office is established in Jihlava. The company tilo s.r.o. distributes the complete tilo product range to Czech wholesalers and specialty stores (managing director: Ing. Zdenek Vondrák).

PARIWOOD:
1999
beteiligt sich tilo an der finnischen Firma PARIWOOD, einem Produktionslocation von österreichischen Investoren. PARIWOOD fertigt 3-Schicht-Böden in Fichte und Lärche sowie die Mittellage für Parkettböden.

50 years tilo:
Just in time for the 50 year company anniversary in the year 2000 the new central office is finalized. This spectacular 3 floor low-energy wood building was constructed by the architecture firm Riepl und Riepl from Linz. The construction periode for the building was 1 year. On a floor space of 650 m² now an effective are of 1950 m² is available.

Number 1 in Austria:
2001
1.250.000 m² natural floors are produced. tilo is the biggest manufacturer of natural floors in Austria. Successful market releases like 3-strip parquet as well as the tiloFIX installation system for a glueless installation of prefabricated floors underline the flooring competence of the company.
