1) First cleaning after installation

The floorer shall deliver the floor in a clean swept condition.

Minor dirt (only loose dust): Remove dirt by sweeping and vacuum cleaning.
Normal dirt (usual dirt after installation): Treat the floor with Cleaner (wiping agent).
Major dirt (grease spots, grey haze caused by installation glue, etc.): Perform basic cleaning by means of Remover.

Use Remover only when really necessary. As far as possible, always choose the mildest form of cleaning.

Maintenance steps

2) First maintenance

tilo flooring elements are provided with surface finish. However, a completed floor still has installation joints. We recommend to protect these joints by providing first maintenance. In this process a thin maintenance film is applied to the surface and the first maintenance product will penetrate small installation joints, thus protecting the surface against dirt and humidity. If first maintenance is not expressly included in the installation services ordered, it is part of the customer’s responsibility. Initial care with Freshen up.

3) ) Maintenance cleaning and care

Maintenance cleaning shall be performed as required by the degree of use, soiling and individual standards of cleanliness. Make sure to perform maintenance cleaning only when really necessary. Avoid cleaning at regular intervals if there’s no or just little need. Maintenance cleaning shall be done slightly damp, excessive wetness may damage the floor!

4) Refreshing the surface

The surface shall be refreshed as soon as the maintenance film (Freshen up) must be renewed. Depending on the degree of use this may be required once or twice a year. If the surface has become unsightly in the course of the years despite proper maintenance care with Cleaner, then refeshing is also necessary. In this case, however, the old and trodden-in layers of maintenance film shall be removed before by means of Remover.

Refreshing by renewing the maintenance film (usual refreshing approx. once or twice a year)
1. Remove dirt by sweeping and vacuum cleaning.
2. Treat the floor with Cleaner.
3. Initial care with Freshen up.

Refreshing in case of unsightly surface (walking paths in old maintenance layers - required only in rare cases)
1. Remove dirt by sweeping and vacuum cleaning.
2. Basic cleaning by means of Remover.
3. Initial care with Freshen up.

Advice to keep the value of the floor
An air humidity between 40% and 60% ensures an optimum room climate that is not only favourable for the health and well-being of people but also for tilo floors. During the heating season in winter this value will not be reached all the time, which may lead to the formation of gaps. Therefore, avoid excessively dry air by using humidifiers and arranging indoor plants.

Our advice: Put felt pads to furniture legs and mats under swivel chairs. To reduce dust and sand inside living quarters place doormats in front of and behind the entrance door. Heavily used surfaces (public places, working areas, kitchen workplaces, etc.) shall be revarnished before they are worn through.
