Company history

A great success always starts with a vision.
Even in the competitive flooring segment, it is necessary to demonstrate active and complete commitment on the market. In order to stand out from the competition, you need courage to go your own way.


1950

Gustav Schrattenecker founded the Lohnsburg joinery with only 1 apprentice. In a workshop no bigger than 7.5 x 12 m and complete with a planing machine, a wooden-frame dressing tool and a band saw with a petrol motor, the then 31-year old makes the transition to self-employment.


1960

Start of mouldings production.


1969

The Rieder exhibition saw cassette ceilings showcased for the first time under the current company name tilo. Shortly after the exhibition, the company started bulk production of cassette ceilings.


1980

The Company soon becomes a major employer in the region. While in 1970 it employed 27 people, the figure in 1980 had reached 160.


1989

Franz Schrattenecker takes over the helm from his father. His motto: "Always question the old and constantly look for innovative solutions."


1992

tilo specialises in the production of engineered floors made of natural raw materials like wood, cork and linoleum. Quality products now sold throughout Europe.


1997

Opening a sales office in the Czech town of Jihlava (Iglau). Managing Director of tilo s.r.o. is Eng. Zdenek Vondrák.

2000

On the 50th anniversary of tilo, the new three-storey office block, a low energy wooden construction, is completed.

2001

With a production volume of 1,250,000 m2 of natural flooring, tilo is the largest manufacturer of natural flooring in Austria.

2009

Introduction to the tilo-EASY-FIX-installation system for prompt and simple installation of the Xterior wood decking.
